Although the Law on the Central Register of Ultimate Beneficial Owners, originally published in the Official Gazette of the Republic of Serbia, No. 19/2025, came into force on March 14, 2025, and was initially scheduled for application after 18 months, the amendment published in the Official Gazette No. 51/2025 significantly shortened that period.

The law will now apply starting from October 1, 2025.

As a consequence, a Correction of the Law was published in the Official Gazette No. 60/2025, stipulating that existing registered entities must comply with the new provisions within 60 days of the law’s application date – i.e., no later than November 30, 2025.

In practical terms, this means that all entities are required to:

• Reassess whether individuals meet the criteria for beneficial ownership under the new law,

• Identify and register all individuals who qualify as beneficial owners under any basis,

• Upload the relevant documentation that supports the identification of each beneficial owner.
